My class has been reading a book that’s called ‘The Giver’ we have reached the point where Jonas is deciding what he will do in the future. This made me think about my future.

What an exiting prospect!

My goal is to become an Interior designer of high quality houses. I have been interested in design since i was a small girl and i have had the opportunity to visit many well designed houses and know what makes a great room or a great house and that is balance. By this i mean that everything in the room complements everything else. A great room needs great furnishings-furniture, rugs and carpets, drapes, wall hangings and paintings. A designer needs to plan every detail of the room or house. They need to work with the owners and decide what is best for them.

To achieve this I need to continue working hard in school. Then I plan to go to a good university such as VCU and follow a course in design. I have good computer skills which i will develop because this will be essential when I become a designer because detailed  planning is a vital part of the process. I love art and to designing things and to talk to my friends about them.

I want my future to be very happy and I think by designing rooms for people it will make them happy too.

The community appears to be  an ideal society where everyone is safe and every one’s future is secure.

All the normal everyday problems of life are taken care of and no one needs to worry about today or tomorrow because the community protects everyone.

Every person has a job and everyone is part of a family. There are many rules but they are there for the welfare of all the community.

An ideal society? is it really? This community allows no freedom of choice. Being an individual will probably lead to release because no one is allowed to have a different view of how the community should work.

The people in the community are almost like robots, programmed to obey and controlled by the elders.

Would i like to live in a community like that? No! Because I want to have a freedom of choice. There are good things about the community but people should be allowed to decide for them selves about how they live.

An ideal society? it could be but some things would have to change.
